School’s Back in Session: And We’re Majoring in Recess

It’s that wonderful time of the year again, except this time it’s hitting a little closer to home! Personally, I have decided to embark on a new journey to earn my MBA and am excited to be attending UCONN School of Business this Fall! While it has always been important to challenge my fitness and health goals, there’s no better reward than investing in your education and channeling your career path to improve yourself and your skills in the workplace.

Let’s be honest though, the best part of any work or school day is the mental breaks (come on, it’s all about the little things). Whether you’re back in college full-time, a mom secretly celebrating the kid-free day, or running a busy life, it’s important to get outside for some fresh air and “me” time to reflect and refocus.

I hit up the local park and put together a short workout for you to enjoy using the equipment you have in front of you. Happy Fall, embrace the change in the season and take advantage of a new routine! Time to grab your pumpkin-flavored caffeine and HIIT the monkey bars!

WARM UP

5-10 mins of functional stretches: jogging, jumping jacks, grapevine, side lateral shuffles, downward dog to cobra, walkout planks, side bends. You should feel your heart rate start to rise but still be able to hold a conversation with your playground partner.

PLAYGROUND HIIT WORKOUT

Complete 4 consecutive rounds – try to get 10-12 reps for each exercise, keep moving and don’t stop until you finish! 60 sec max rest in between sets!
